At least 20 people were killed in a fresh wave of Russian airstrikes in south-eastern Ukraine, with multiple attacks on the city of Zaporizhzhia, dpa reported [E6]. Mykhailo Semikin, the military governor of the Zaporizhzhia region, wrote on Telegram that the dead include three children and that 18 more people were injured, dpa reported [E7]. The Los Angeles Times reported at least 20 killed in Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia region [E8]. The BBC said at least 15 people were killed in the attack on the city [E1].
The BBC said Russia attacked the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia with five glide bombs on Saturday morning, hitting residential buildings [E1][E2].
Since this paper's 10 October file, Ukrainska Pravda had put seven people dead after guided bombs struck a residential five-story building [E9].
Acting Mayor Regina Kharchenko told Ukrainian television from the scene, the BBC reported: "The ground floor was hit, and the floors above just collapsed" [E4].
Kharchenko said more than 80 workers were involved in search and rescue operations expected to continue throughout the day, the BBC reported [E5].
The BBC said at least 16 others were injured in the attack, with more still missing and believed to be under the rubble [E3].
