Israeli carrier El Al announced Friday morning that it was cancelling its rescue flights to Dubai after Israeli airlines' permission to land there was revoked by the authorities. [E1][E2]
An advisory featured on El Al's digital platform named the grounded services as LY974-1 and LY972 and said the company was forced to cancel them "at this stage" for "tomorrow, Friday, October 2." [E4]
The Jerusalem Post attributes the revocation to "the authorities," unnamed. [E1] Republic World's Tel Aviv copy names the United Arab Emirates as the government that rescinded landing permissions for the repatriation services. [E2] El Al's own advisory points at a report from Israeli authorities, saying approval for Israeli companies to land in Dubai had been cancelled "as was reported by the authorities in Israel." [E4]
El Al stated that as soon as official permission is granted for the rescue flights to resume, it would implement the planned flights to bring stranded Israelis home, leaving LY974-1 and LY972 cancelled until that permission is granted. [E3][E4]
