Oil ledger Fact

Friday's Brent close is the hard number in the oil file

The records establish an IEA September oil-market page and Friday's $104.61 Brent settlement; they do not support detailed Saudi supply arithmetic.

Morningstar's cited item puts Friday's ICE Brent front-month settlement at $104.61. It says the contract rose during the week and settled at that level, making the close the supported traded price in the record. [E2]

The IEA citation establishes a September 2026 oil-market report page, but its available text does not state a Saudi August crude-supply figure, a month-on-month change, or separate OPEC production and supplied lines. Those figures may belong in the fuller report, but they are not shown by the cited material. [E1]

The distinction is narrower but still useful: a report page is not, by itself, a production ledger, and a settlement item is a price mark rather than proof of physical supply. The two records can show which kind of number is confirmed without turning either source into unsupported Saudi accounting. [E1] [E2]

What is not established is the operating gap. The cited IEA page does not show the Saudi August base or any world-supply revision, so the available conclusion is narrower. Friday's $104.61 close is supported, and the detailed production arithmetic is not. [E1] [E2]
