China–North Korea Border Fact

Kim Jong-un Crosses New Yalu River Bridge Into China

South Korea’s Unification Ministry said Kim entered Dandong over the bridge, opened Oct. 15 after a long delay.

Kim Jong-un arrived in Dandong, Liaoning Province, on Saturday via the New Yalu River Bridge, South Korea’s Unification Ministry said. [E1][E2]

The four-lane bridge links Dandong with Sinuiju in North Korea’s North Pyongan Province and spans 3.03 kilometers. [E3][E4]

The bridge officially opened on Oct. 15. [E5][E6]

Construction was completed in 2014, but the opening was delayed for more than a decade because infrastructure on the North Korean side was unfinished. [E7]
