Serhii Kuznetsov, a special forces officer from the Ukrainian military, ended his first day on trial in Hamburg after just over two hours, NDR reported [E2][E6].

Al Jazeera reported the trial opened on Wednesday at the Hamburg Higher Regional Court and is expected to run into February next year [E4].

The 2022 attack on the Nord Stream gas pipelines between Russia and Germany is the event he is accused of taking part in, the Guardian reported [E1].

Prosecutors accuse him of being an accomplice to war crimes by attacking civilian infrastructure, causing an explosion, damaging property and disrupting public services, the Guardian reported [E2].
